Day 1: Upclose and Personal

The perfect subject of the first day of my 365 photo-a-day project  -- a family day trip to the zoo.

You would think 4years removed from receiving our immigrant status, we would have us made this place one of the first places to visit in Canada (considering how close it is to the border). But yes, it is our first time at Parc Safari. The upclose and personal feel of the zoo makes it so much more unique compared to other traditional zoos.

How about having the lion sitting on the glass casing you're enclosed in? And petting the giraffe high up on his nose? How about the zebra feeding from your hand from the convenience of your own car? Too close for my comfort (yes Mama was terrified, her windows were up!), but the rest of the family looked like they had fun.  Family had some water fun in the afternoon at the water park within the facility too.

DSLR on shutter speed priority all the way because I didn't have the patience to try to learn hubby's old T1 Canon camera in the midst of all the action going on. Did my best though.  Edited a little toward the end (I will not pretend that I did not edit this! ).

A whole herd of these guys just passed our car even bumping us with one of their horns

Emu upclose.  Gray skies on the horizon.

Bambi!

Yak

They were like a cross between a moose and a deer.
